The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco proudly celebrated the 2025 Italian Republic Day, hosted at the premises of the Consulate General and in the transformed outdoor space known as “Piazza Italia.”
The event brought together our vast and vibrant community of Italians, Italian Americans, and international friends from across the Northwestern Pacific region of the United States.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of the Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, who underscored the significant contributions of the Italian community to the growth and prosperity of the city from the early 19th century to today. Our sincere thanks go to Mayor Lurie for his presence and his meaningful messages of appreciation.
Special thanks also go to California State Representatives Evan Read and Frank Ruffino, who conveyed official greetings from Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and Treasurer Fiona Ma.
The celebration also highlighted Italian excellence and innovation in the fields of energy and mobility. Additionally, it showcased the successes achieved in the first two and a half years of activity of the Italian Innovation and Culture Hub – INNOVIT.
A particularly moving moment was the ceremony awarding the Order of the Star of Italy to three distinguished members of the Bay Area’s Italian community: Giacomo Marini, Marcellino Gemelli, and the late Carlo Di Ruocco.
The event was made particularly special thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Italgas S.p.A., Gruppo Snam, Intesa Sanpaolo, Terna, ITA Airways, Lamborghini, Eataly (Silicon Valley), Balloon Museum, and Crave Italy.
Finally, the evening was enriched by the culinary delights prepared by nine Italian chefs and a selection of Italian wines offered by prestigious wineries, accompanied by the extraordinary musical performance of the band Sonamó.
The Consulate General extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the great success of the 2025 Italian Republic Day celebrations!
