The San Francisco Little Italy Honor Walk (SFLIHW) is a new project promoted by the Consulate General to celebrate the greatest figures of the Italian and Italian American Community of San Francisco and to strengthen the collaboration among the Italian organizations of the Bay Area.
On October 4th the first plaque, dedicated to former San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, was unveiled by Consul General Sergio Strozzi and the President of the SFLIHW, Jennifer Consalvi-Hodges, in the presence of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, former Mayor Willie Brown, Supervisors Aaron Peskin and Catherine Stefani and of the sons and daughters of George Moscone: Johnathan, Christopher, Rebecca and Jennifer.
All member organizations of the SFLIHW were in attendance: COMITES San Francisco, Italian Community Services, Italian Scientists and Scholars North America Foundation – Bay Area Chapter, iTal Foundation (former Silicon Valley Executives Council), San Francisco Italian Heritage, Le Donne d’Italia, Museo ItaloAmericano, San Francisco Italian Athletic Club.
In the afternoon of October 4th, the Consulate General, together with the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco, organized the panel: “George Moscone’s Legacy” at INNOVIT. Speakers: Prof. Lincoln Mitchell, Professor at Columbia University, political analyst and writer, and James Molinari, a collaborator of Mayor Moscone.
