Italian automotive excellence was prominently represented at Monterey Car Week, one of the world’s foremost gatherings dedicated to automotive design, heritage, innovation, and motorsport, with Consul General Massimo Carnelos and Deputy Consul General Davide Corriero taking part in a series of events celebrating the extraordinary contribution of Italy to global automotive culture.
Across four days of events on the Monterey Peninsula, some of Italy’s most iconic automotive brands and institutions showcased a tradition that continues to combine technological innovation, engineering, performance, craftsmanship, and unmistakable Italian design.
The Consul General met with Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna at Casa Ferrari and Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann for exchanges on the continued evolution and international success of two of the most recognizable expressions of Italian automotive excellence.
A particularly significant moment was the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Duetto, an enduring icon of Italian automotive design, together with Pininfarina CEO Paolo Dellachà.. The anniversary offered an opportunity to recognize a model whose distinctive design has become part of Italy’s industrial and cultural heritage.
The program also included meetings with the 1000 Miglia team, represented by Francesca Parolin and Fulvia Loda Gelmini, and a return to Concorso Italiano, one of the largest gatherings devoted exclusively to Italian automobiles and a longstanding celebration of Italy’s automotive culture in California.
Italy’s prominent presence throughout Monterey Car Week underscored the enduring international appeal of an automotive tradition that has helped shape the history of the industry and continues to influence its future. From legendary heritage models to contemporary supercars, Italian manufacturers and designers remain global references for the ability to bring together technology, performance, style, creativity, and industrial expertise.
Monterey Car Week once again demonstrated the remarkable visibility and vitality of Made in Italy in the global automotive sector, while providing an important platform for strengthening the connections between Italy and California around design, technology, innovation, and automotive culture.15
