The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco was pleased to welcome Cecilia Zandalasini, one of Italy’s leading basketball players and a distinguished representative of Italian excellence in international sport.
A forward for the Golden State Valkyries and a longtime member of the Italian National Basketball Team, Zandalasini has built an outstanding career across the WNBA, Europe’s top professional leagues, and major international competitions, establishing herself as one of the most accomplished Italian athletes of her generation.
During the meeting, Consul General Massimo Carnelos highlighted the important role that sport plays in promoting dialogue, inclusion, and cultural exchange, recognizing athletes such as Cecilia as exceptional ambassadors of Italian talent, determination, and excellence on the international stage.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore future collaborations aimed at promoting Italy through sport, including initiatives connected with the Day of Italian Sport in the World, the upcoming SportTech Acceleration Program at INNOVIT – Italian Innovation and Culture Hub, and outreach activities with local schools to encourage the study of the Italian language and strengthen ties with younger generations.
The Consulate General looks forward to working with Cecilia Zandalasini in future initiatives that celebrate the values of sport while further strengthening the cultural and educational ties between Italy and the Bay Area.
