From March 23 to 27, 2026, San Francisco hosted an exceptionally intense week dedicated to Italian innovation, transatlantic cooperation, and the promotion of national entrepreneurial and scientific talent. In parallel, INNOVIT welcomed two acceleration cohorts, including a program developed in partnership with the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency, represented in San Francisco by Luca Nicoletti, Director of the ACN Industrial, Technological and Research Programs Service. The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco also supported, for the second year in a row, the inauguration of the Italian Pavilion at RSA Conference and hosted an Italian side event together with the Italian Trade Agency – Los Angeles Office, represented by Director Giosafat Riganò, dedicated to the innovation community.
Throughout the week, 20 startups took part in two acceleration programs focused on deep tech, cybersecurity, quantum, space, and defense tech, while additional companies were featured in the value creation program organized by INNOVIT with the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency. Italy’s presence at RSA Conference 2026 further confirmed the country’s growing role in cybersecurity, digital innovation, and advanced technologies.
The event hosted at the Consulate General provided an additional opportunity for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and institutional stakeholders to connect and exchange views on the future growth of the Italian innovation ecosystem in the United States. Consul General Massimo Carnelos emphasized how this combination of programs, presentations, and networking moments helps strengthen Italy’s visibility as a country capable of generating globally competitive innovation. Also present was the Head of the Office for the Promotion of Innovative Industrial Ecosystems and Startups of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cons. Amb. Sergio Strozzi.
The week also highlighted the strength of Italy–U.S. connections at a time when emerging technologies increasingly require collaboration, strategic vision, and long-term investment. In this context, the joint presence of Italian institutions, industry partners, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders created a concrete platform for growth and internationalization.
The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco extends its sincere thanks to all partners involved for contributing to the success of a week that marked an important step in promoting Italian excellence and strengthening Italy–U.S. relations.
