On September 20, 2025, the Consul General of Italy Massimo Carnelos, together with the staff of the Consulate General and Italian Cultural Institute, were honored to represent the Italian nation in the sophomore year of Europe in the Park, a festival hosted by the San Francisco’s Office of the European Union Delegation to the United States.
As the tree-lined enclave of Peacock Meadows in Golden Gate Park transformed into a vibrant microcosm of 20 different European cultures and traditions, the Italian booth welcomed over 7,000 San Francisco community members, sharing a slice of the nation’s delicacies, language and conviviality. Compatriots and Italophiles alike were greeted with specialties hailing from Italian’s many regions, from cantucci from Tuscany to taralli from Puglia, courtesy of our friends at ItalFoods.
The afternoon commenced with a salute from every participating country, kicking off a showcase of live performances by the European nations, including a recital from La Scuola International’s student choir. The immense success of the festival served as a testament to the importance of culture and tradition to serve as a force of unity and joy, both among members of European Union and those beyond the continent.
