CONSUL GENERAL STROZZI HONORS HAWAII GOVERNOR JOSH GREEN WITH ITALIAN KNIGHTHOOD ON BEHALF OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC ABOARD ITALIAN NAVY SHIP MONTECUCCOLI

It has been a privilege for Consul General Sergio Strozzi to hand over the Italian official decoration of Knighthood of the Order of the Stella d’Italia conferred by the President of the Italian Republic to the State Of Hawaii Governor Josh Green.
The ceremony was held on July 30th on the Italian Marina Militare patrolling high-tech ship Montecuccoli, that participated in the RIMPAC 2024, in the presence of the Commander in Chief of the Italian Fleet, Admiral Aurelio De Carolis, Honolulu’s Mayor Rick Blangiardi, Italy’s Honorary Consul in Hawaii Michele Carbone, MD, the Commander of Montecuccoli, Capt. Alessandro Troia, Italy’s Embassy in DC’s Naval Attaché, Capt. Marco Bagni and many distinguished guests both military and civilian.
The Italian decoration is related to the constant support offered by Governor Green to Italy and the Italian American Community of Hawaii, included the most effective assistance provided to the evacuation of the Italian citizens during the 2023 Maui wildfires crisis, along with his strong commitment in the field of health and particularly in the creation of the Honolulu Cancer Center with Italian oncologists and experts.
As representative of Italy in the Northwest-Pacific States of the US, Consul General Strozzi is extremely proud of this recognition at the highest level of Governor’s Green’s merits in strengthening the relations with Italy.
At the same time the official recognition is the clear sign of the deep ties existing between Italy and Hawaii and their peoples.
