01 June 2024: Reintroduction Of National Visas For Family Members Of UE/EEA Citizens

On 14 May 2024, this Consulate was notified that the requirement of national visas for family members of EU/EEA citizens repatriating to Italy has been reimposed effective 01 June 2024.

If you are an EU/EEA citizen intending to move your family to Italy on or after 01 June 2024, your family members who are not EU/EEA citizens must now have a national visa for family reasons in order to obtain their residency permits in Italy. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to remain in Italy.

The Consular jurisdiction is AlaskaCalifornia (except the following counties, which are under the jurisdiction of the Italian Consulate in Los Angeles: Imperial Valley, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Ventura),Hawaii, IdahoMontanaOregonUtahWashingtonAmerican Territories of Samoa,American Territory of Guam, Northern Mariana IslandsJohnston Atoll, Wake IslandMidway Islands. All individuals resident in this territory must apply for visas through this office.
