Day of Italian Fashion in the World 2026

Moda 5

The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco was honored to commemorate Italian Fashion Day in the World with a distinguished Fashion Showcase presenting selected Haute Couture creations—an eloquent expression of the creativity, craftsmanship, and technical mastery that have made Italian fashion admired globally.

The Alta Moda presentation was complemented by an inspiring panel discussion entitled “Craftsmanship vs. Technology,” which explored the enduring heritage of Italian haute couture, the central role of artisanal excellence, and the growing importance of sustainability in a rapidly evolving global landscape. The conversation also underscored the vital contribution of technological innovation—an area of particular resonance in Silicon Valley and central to ongoing efforts in the Bay Area to promote Italy as a leading Tech Nation and hub of innovation.

Consul General Massimo Carnelos, together with the Head of the Education Office, Daniela Mazza, and the staff, extends their sincere appreciation to the distinguished panelists: Laura L. Camerlengo, Curator in Charge of Costume and Textile Arts at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Eva Rorandelli, CEO and Fashion Design Director of Evaro Italia; and Gozde Goncu Berk, PhD, Chair of the UC Davis Maria Manetti Shrem Institute for Sustainable Design, Fashion and Textiles at University of California, Davis.

The discussion was skillfully moderated by Mauro Aprile Zanetti, Global Brand & Philanthropy Strategist at the Manetti Shrem Foundation and Chief Business Evangelist of Cloud4Wi.

Through initiatives of this nature, the Consulate General reaffirms its commitment to showcasing the excellence of Italian creativity while fostering dialogue at the intersection of tradition, sustainability, and technological innovation.
