In effort to bolster Tuscany’s growing high-tech sector, the Italian Innovation and Culture Hub INNOVIT in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco hosted the third edition of “Casa Toscana,” a showcase and workshop highlighting the region’s most promising tech ventures in Silicon Valley.

The week-long intensive acceleration program welcomed a delegation from the Tuscan Region as well as the founders of seven start-ups, selected through the “Toscana Tech on the road” competition. The event focused particularly on developments in artificial intelligence, robotics and biotechnology.

Each start-up pitched their projects on Demo Day, followed by a panel on “AI Due Diligence: How Investors & Companies Should Evaluate AI Solutions”. The discussion featured the voices of Italian as well as Bay Area-based leaders in innovation and investment, including Stefano Corazza of Canva, Shikhar Kwatra of OpenAI, Brittany Befandeh of Data Culture, Shilpa Prasad of LG Nova, Freddie Martignetti of Nava Ventures, and Maria Pienaar of Growth Capital.

As Tuscany continues to promote industrial and technological initiatives, Consul General Massimo Carnelos, together with his staff, welcomed and extended his gratitude to all participants and organizers for connecting Italian business ventures with the diverse technological, financial, and communal opportunities offered by the Bay-Area.
