One year after beginning his mandate in San Francisco by attending the first day of school at La Scuola International School, Consul General Massimo Carnelos returned to the school to mark the opening of the new academic year and celebrate an important milestone for the Italian educational community in the Bay Area.

The occasion held particular significance for the Consul General, who first visited La Scuola on August 18, 2025, at the very beginning of his assignment in San Francisco. One year later, he joined students, teachers, staff, and families once again as they began a new school year—this time in the school’s impressive new building.

The visit provided an opportunity to recognize the important role played by La Scuola International School in promoting the Italian language and culture in Northern California and in offering students a multilingual and international educational experience deeply connected to Italy.

Consul General Carnelos thanked Head of School Valentina Imbeni, together with the teachers, staff, and families, for their continued commitment to the school and to the promotion of Italian language, history, and culture.

Above all, he addressed his best wishes to the students as they begin another year of learning, discovery, and personal growth.

The Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco continues to support Italian-language education throughout its jurisdiction as an essential instrument for strengthening cultural ties with Italy and fostering a lasting connection with the country among younger generations.

The beginning of the new school year at La Scuola offered a fitting opportunity to celebrate both continuity and renewal: a growing school community, a new home, and another year dedicated to sharing the Italian language and culture in the heart of San Francisco.
