{"id":7147,"date":"2026-03-03T16:55:43","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T23:55:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conssanfrancisco.esteri.it\/?p=7147"},"modified":"2026-03-03T16:56:46","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T23:56:46","slug":"italian-citizenship-extension-of-the-deadline-benefit-of-law-beneficio-di-legge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/conssanfrancisco.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dal_consolato\/2026\/03\/italian-citizenship-extension-of-the-deadline-benefit-of-law-beneficio-di-legge\/","title":{"rendered":"Italian Citizenship \u2013 Extension of the Deadline (Benefit of Law &#8211; &#8220;Beneficio di Legge&#8221;)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please be informed that, with the entry into force of Law No. 26 of 28 February 2026, converting Decree-Law No. 200\/2025 (\u201cmilleproroghe\u201d), the deadline for submitting declarations to acquire Italian citizenship by benefit of law, pursuant to Article 1, paragraph 1-ter, of Decree-Law No. 36\/2025, <strong><u>has been extended from 31 May 2026 to 31 May 2029<\/u><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<strong>The extension applies to minors who, as of 24 May 2025, were children of Italian citizens by birth<\/strong>, as defined under Article 3-bis of Law No. 91\/1992, and who may acquire Italian citizenship through a formal declaration.<br \/>\nThe operational instructions already in force remain unchanged.
