There will be an important development in the Italian educational system in the world for the 2018\/2019 school year: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) have recognised \u201cLa Scuola International School\u201d in San Francisco the status of equivalence at preschool and elementary levels. This school will join the \u201cScuola d\u2019Italia Guglielmo Marconi\u201d in New York, which has already been awarded the status of equivalence.<\/p>\n
The programmes offered by the school are characterized by three key elements, notably the teaching of Italian, the use of the \u201cReggio Children\u201d approach, and the adoption of the \u201cPrimary Years Programme\u201d of the International Baccalaureate (I.B.).<\/p>\n
The recognition of equivalence to the school, the 43rd to be granted abroad, is highly significant. It is the first Italian private elementary school in the world, including Italy, to be given the status of equivalence. Therefore, it is officially recognized as being part of the national educational system while also offering an I.B. programme. The model can be replicated elsewhere with the aim of expanding and innovating our scholastic system abroad.<\/p>\n
Students graduate from La Scuola with a diploma that is accepted by the U.S., and now also by Italy and member countries of the European Union without the necessity to get a Declaration of Value.<\/p>\n
In addition to being recognized by the Italian MAECI and MIUR, \u201cLa Scuola\u201d has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is also member of various associations such as National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA).<\/p>\n
